We have started working on our summer party, and are sure this will be the best ever!
One reason we are so excited is that University of New Mexico Professor Ray Hernandez-Duran, whose talk on The Representation of the Cat in Global Art was the hit of last year’s lecture series has agreed to return to our summer party with a completely new talk. This year, Ray’s talk is entitled Symbol, Guide and Familiar: The Cat & Human Spirituality Through the Ages. People and cats have shared a long and rich history, and along the way these animals have shared our spirits as well as our home. Ray will draw on the representation of cats in art through history to explore this journey we have shared – and continue to share – with our feline friends. We had lunch with Ray a few weeks ago, where he shared some of his ideas for the talk, and we were just blown away by them.
We are looking forward to spending an afternoon with you, our supporters, sharing this terrific talk, food, conversation, a silent auction, and other entertainment, so reserve your place soon!
