Lily and Her Kittens

Sometimes working with free-roaming cats has a sad side. While seeking to TNR cats at a new point in the neighborhood, we discovered 3 very small bouncing kittens watching us from behind some stored items. Little heads popping around corners to see what we were up to. (jumping and playing) Nearby, a colleague discovered their mother, recently passed away. We don't know whether she had been hit by a car, or succumbed to the difficult life of reproduction. Cats can have a variety of complications from pregnancy and birth. This sadness can be prevented by spaying and neutering. Also, drivers should be respectful of animals crossing the road. She was cremated with love and respect. We were able to find a special foster for the 3 babies, and we partnered with another group for their adoptions.
