In Memorium: Sir Kotzebue Frost, by Nancy and Roger |
| When we got married in 1971, I wanted a pure-bred blue or lilac point Siamese kitten as a wedding gift from Roger. I named my blue point kitten Blue Maximillan. Max was the perfect "wedding cat". He was the love of my life and my constant companion. He even slept between us in bed. He had to be able to touch both of us. If you moved, he would wake you up. When we lost Max in 1988, I had serious trouble coping. I wasn't sure I could ever love another kittie. Then we got Frosty. Since he was to be my second "wedding cat", he had to be a pure bred Siamese. This time "my kittie" was a frost or lilac point. At 8 weeks old, he fit into the palm of your hand. He seemed too small for the name on his papers - "Sir Kotzebue Frost". We had named him after the very small artic village of Kotzebue, Alaska. Kotzebue always has permafrost. |

| He was his daddy's kitty. He spent most of his life asleep on Roger's lap or in his arms. He loved me dearly too. When he went to the vet, he wanted to only be held by me. He had his mommy moments. Frosty was nothing like Max. However, he won my heart. Frosty was the sweetest little boy. Everyone loved Frosty. During his final days, he slept on my lap most of the day. I should have known he was sick, but then there were no other signs that he was ill. One morning around 3 am, he started throwing up. Because he was just 2 months short of 22 Years, we took him to the emergency vet. There was nothing they could do, they tried all day. So we brought him home and at 11:21 pm he had a heart attack and passed away. We had wrapped him in a soft fuzzy throw and snuggled him between us. We both were stroking him and speaking to him softly. I know that Frosty knew how much we loved him. |

| We were devastated. I prayed for another "wedding cat", but we decided to wait awhile. Then you called us to look at an abandoned 6 1/2 yr old named "Rick". Rick was a rather unique looking special needs kitty (see his pictures above). We renamed him "Reiki". He is blossoming with us. He was 7 lbs when we got him. Seven months later, he is over 11 lbs. He is no Siamese, but he has won our hearts. Max and Frosty would have liked him. He is a Siamese at heart. |
