Winston: An Old Friend

Winston in a hat Winston had lived with us a few years ago, before being adopted into his new home. As you can see, he is a handsome, photogenic fellow. He is also an extraordinarily sweet cat - even when being subjected to such indignities as a funny hat.

Winston had come to us when his owners left him behind to move out of state. He survived by joining a feral colony that we were caring for, but it was immediately clear to us that he was not a feral. A little detective work in the neighborhood, and we learned how he had come to be abandoned.

We brought him to our foster house, and placed him up on Pet Finder. Eventually, a lovely woman from Denver saw is picture, and came to see him on a trip to Albuquerque. It was love at first sight for both of them, and he made the return trip to Colorado. We still hear from Winston and his new companion, and they have become inseparable.

A while back, we found these pictures of this beautiful animal who was part of our lives for a while, and thought we would share them with you. We also hope that you will help us to spread the crucial lesson of Winston's story. That cats are not household furnishings that can be left behind when we move to a new place. They are living creatures who depend upon us for their lives, and who will repay that care with boundless love.
